Dr. Miele played Division I basketball at Arizona State; was Tight End for the Arizona Caliente, of the Women’s Professional Football League; and was also a New York Golden Gloves semi-finalist in 2004. She began coaching athletes in 1986 and has been involved as a personal exercise and fitness trainer since 1994. Dr. Miele has traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe as an athlete and coach and has been involved in consulting, coaching and teaching a wide range of sports including but not limited to; Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, Baseball, Football, Archery, Bowling, Figure Skating, Hockey, Boxing, Wrestling, Field Sports, Golf, Soccer, Swimming, Track and Field, Gymnastics and Tennis.
Dr. Miele was a middle school and high school Physical Education teacher from 1997 to 2006, and then returned to education from 2011 to 2014 after managing the Sport Injury Prevention Program for a Children’s Medical Center.
Dr. Miele runs her own business ‘Mind over Body Athletics, LLC’ in which she trains and consults athletes and coaches in a variety of sports, sport psychology, injury prevention, and training methods. Dr. Miele continues to consult schools, athletic directors, coaches, parents, and student-athletes on the importance of preventative tactics in sports. She has given presentations on the topics of injury prevention and safety in sport, recreation and fitness.
Dr. Miele holds a Doctorate in Psychology (with emphasis in Sport and Exercise), a Master’s in Education: Alternative Education/Minor: Education Administration and an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and Physical Education. She is adjunct faculty at Ohio University for the Sport and Recreation Pedagogical Department and continues to provide personal training and consultation in a variety of training methods, sports, and psychological necessities.

Physical Education /Education-Supervision
Dr. Miele is a sport, fitness and education expert with 14 years of physical education experience, (Pre-kindergarten-12) within multiple states across the country. Dr. Miele has relevant experience in the proper teaching standards required by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE), proper supervision before, during and after school, skill progression and instruction, proper use of safety equipment and the practices related to the role and responsibilities of teachers and administrators.
Sports and Coaching/Recreation
Dr. Miele has coached a variety of sports from recreational leagues, varsity high school and community college. She was a Division I basketball player, New York City Golden Gloves boxer and professional women’s football player. She has relevant experience and training in the coaching practices related to proper inspection of court and fields, use of safety equipment (mats and pads), progression of skills and instruction, coaching practices, safety analysis, and the supervision of children and adults in sports and recreation facilities.
Dr. Miele is a Nationally Certified Accredited Interscholastic Coach through the National Federation of State High School Association (NFHS). She also serves on the Sports Equipment, Playing Surfaces, and Facilities committee with American Society for Testing and Materials International (ASTM).
Fitness
Dr. Miele has trained, instructed and consulted amateur athletes and the general population in and outside of a fitness facility. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and certifications in functional training, fitness facility management, and as a Life Fitness Equipment Technician. Dr. Miele has expertise in the standard of care necessary to properly train, supervise and keep clients and members safe in fitness facilities.
Dr. Miele has 14 years of physical education experience in which she has been trained to teach gymnastics and body awareness with use of trampolines. She has held (Pre-kindergarten-12) certifications within multiple states across the country. Dr. Miele has trained and instructed gymnasts for over 15 years. She is USA Gymnastics certified in risk management and safety, tumbling, and trampoline developmental coaching. Dr. Miele has relevant experience in the proper instructional standards, supervision, skill progression, use of safety equipment, landing techniques, surfaces (mats/padding) and the practices related to the role and responsibilities of Coaches.
She is also a Level 2 Certified Service Technician (CST-2) through the International Association of Trampoline Parks (IATP), and a member of the ASTM F24.61-(F-2970) Trampoline Court Task group, responsible for ongoing development of standard applicable to trampoline parks.
Concussions
Dr. Miele has experience and training in the coaching practices related to concussion prevention, identification, and concussion protocol. Dr. Miele has coached a variety of sports at varying levels of play and completed Concussion Wise and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Concussions in Sports training program. Dr. Miele has worked with concussed patients in her Sport Psychology practice and is well versed in the standard of care for coaches and trainers as it relates to the health and safety of their players.
